But is (tRUMP) the most dangerous president ever? Is he really so outside the norm of the policies of his predecessors? The short answer, when it comes to substance and policy, is: not yet. Harry Truman dropped not one, but two nuclear bombs. Multiple presidents continued the war on Vietnam, killing tens of thousands of U.S. soldiers and more than a million Vietnamese. Have we forgotten the secret bombings of Cambodia and Laos, the CIA Phoenix Program, and the widespread use of Agent Orange? The dirty wars in Central America? The global assassination operations?

Interesting to me that while you were posting this, I was posting a similar “point” re: Trump’s immigration policies. Quote from Wikipedia: “Calvin Coolidge [agreed, stating] “Biological laws tell us that certain divergent people will not mix or blend. The Nordics propagate themselves successfully. With other races, the outcome shows deterioration on both sides.”[43]
The Immigration Act of 1924 was signed into law by President Coolidge. This was designed to reduce the number of immigrants from Southern Europe, Southeast Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia, exclude Asian immigrants altogether, and favor immigration from the British Isles, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.”

Thanks for posting this, Lara. It’s about time someone introduced some sanity into the wholesale effort to demonize Trump.

Maybe more people would “give him a chance” if he acknowledged proven facts/reality, apologized when he was wrong, and stopped trying to overturn everything any democrat ever did NOT because he disagrees with it, but because those who don’t adore him must be erased. Until then, he is far too “pink” for many tastes, and while he edifies Putin, the rest of us choose to respect the Russian people instead –who just as in this country– are NOT the same as their leaders.

I think the point is not that this current president is any good, but that the USA has a history of pretty awful presidents.

I was listening to some comedian, and I wish I could give him credit but I can’t remember who it was, but he basically said: George W was an awful president, so awful that the next election was given to Obama, which is a huge, huge swing obviously. So just imagine who will come after this guy.

Comedians get it, and they are good messengers, Jay. With humor it seems easier for us to grasp.

I’ve said the same things, only to have them fall on deaf ears.

It’s frustrating GP but we can’t stop pushing better history out there.
