When Ma-Nee Chacaby was a teenager in the remote Ojibwa community of Ombabika, Ont., in the 1960s, she secretly wished she could slick her hair back into a glossy, Elvis Presley pompadour. Some 50 years later, she would finally get to, dressing up as the King as part of a drag show in one of Thunder Bay’s inaugural Gay Pride events.
